LJ Foor In Writing: What's In A Name, Part 1

A Name with Purpose and Dignity:

In 2008, the Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market and Westerville, Ohio's local help organization, WARM (Westerville Area Resource Ministry) teamed up for a new program that extended the WARM Food Bank to the fresh, healthy produce, foods, and fruit-bearing plants available at the Wednesday afternoon farmers' market.

Participants present coupon vouchers provided by WARM for $5 to vendors for their purchases at the farmers' market.

No one lists the need to reach out to a help organization as a goal in life, and it takes a great deal of personal courage to do so.  The staff at WARM help their clients right themselves so they can put their lives back on track with compassion, honesty, respect, and dignity.

Even though a WARM client is in transition, by coming to market through this program, they are not only making healthy food choices for themselves and their families, but they are also giving back to their communities by buying local and supporting local farmers and food artisans.

Our vendors are very proud of their participation in this program and have developed relationships with customers who remain loyal long after they've moved on from this help program.

I was honored to name this successful program: Fresh Green.
